LCEC Throws a Party For Charity…

Posted on August 16, 2010

Lee County Electric Cooperative’s “Tunes and Taste Buds” Event

Recently, LCEC held their “Tunes and Taste Buds” event in order to raise funds for United Way. We had a great time capturing the music, food, and fun all on digital film for their PR team. The food was delicious and potluck style, so there was a great variety dishes for people to choose from. The music was performed by LCEC employees and included classic rock, folk, country, and a good mix of some of today’s current hits. The best part is, while people ate and danced, LCEC was able to raise more than $2700 for the United Way charity. We were very glad to provide our services for the event… Thanks LCEC!!!

This past weekend, we had the opportunity to do a session with Zuri and Idalis, son and daughter of a good friend of ours from church. We had a great time exploring the downtown area of Punta Gorda, while looking for some interesting spots to take some unique and different shots. One of our favorite things to do during a session is to try out new ideas and new places in our shots. In order to keep things fresh and make sure that each session has a unique flavor to it, we are constantly looking for new backdrops, and listening to new suggestions from friends, family, and especially our customers. Some of the best shots that we’ve taken have been from ideas that our customers have brought to us both during and prior to our sessions. Both Zuri and Idalis did a great job of being open to our ideas for shots, as well as having some of their own to add to the mix. In the end, even though it was a hot day, we took some great shots, we had a great time, and now our friends have some professional portraits to proudly display to other family members and friends.

Friendly Tip: Whenever you go into a portrait or event session as a customer, try to do your best to be yourself, have fun, clear your mind of anything negative that might have happened during the day, and have some shot ideas handy. Emotions and personalities show through very clearly in photographs, and nobody wants custom portraits of themselves with a big frown on their face (or a fake smile). Also, even though the photographer is a professional and knows how to position people for traditional lighting and composition, nobody knows what kind of portraits you are looking for more than you (the customer) do. So have ideas handy, and don’t be afraid to share them with whoever is behind the camera. In the end, you will get more out of your session by being an active participant, rather than a passive model…

This past week, we were invited to the Florida Public Relations Association Semi-Yearly Media Breakfast event. In attendance were some of Southwest Florida’s most influential media moguls and stars, including publicists and high ranking professionals from Waterman Broadcasting, Florida Weekly, Gulf Coast Business Review, News-Press Media Group, GulfShore Life, and WGCU Public Media. What a great bunch of people to talk to and network with. Oh, and we were tasked with taking all of the event photos as well :-) So, what is this event all about?   Networking, information, and keeping up with the fast past of today’s media world. Networking with Public Relations Professionals and the Media professionals of the day was a great experience! And L’Esprit would like to thank Danielle Flood, Kathleen Taylor, and everyone at the FPRA for the invite to this wonderful event!

This past weekend, we were lucky enough to be a part of a very special day. Katie and Ryan met in college years ago and decided to tie the knot on Saturday, May 29th. What a fitting way to spend a Memorial Day weekend: watching a member of our armed forces get married before being deployed! And we were lucky enough to capture all of it on film. Ryan, who is an officer in the U.S. Navy, proposed to Katie, who is a nurse, in Washington D.C. at the fountain between the Washington and Lincoln Memorials and Katie gladly accepted. What a great couple! We wish them all the best of luck in their new life…
